Name: worried mom

hi
my son is 13month old. until last week he was eating very well, since last week he started keeping the food in the mouth without taking inside ( swallowing),
i am giving him rice 2 times, ceralac, any fruit everyday along with milk.
he is not eating any thing, he is just keeping in the mouth for a long time and then spitting it out.
but he is drinking milk very well.
he is very ( hyper ) active & very naughty. his pd. told his wt. is normal ( 11kg).
i am really loosing my patience when feeding him. feeding time is becoming like a war time.
any one facing same type of problem ? can any one please advice me how to feed him ?

May be he lost interest in cerelac because he is a big boy now :)
Try this...
Take equal proportions of Rice, Moong Dal(after a while u can join Toor dal also). Fry them in a pan. And then grind them into course powder(you know what consistency your kid eats)Then add a tomato, i actually peel and make tomato paste in the mixie or you can bye tomato paste from Safeway etc. Add little spice(your kids preference) and salt. Then pressure cook it in a covered vessel on low flame for three whistles. For 3 spoons of powder u need to add 6ozs of water.
2)Make sabu dana kheer for him
3)try giving him idli
Let me know

Hi,

Most mothers one at a time face this problem please don't worry. The first thing is do not treat this as Wartime. Even you know that your child is hungry do not force the food on him if he is not taking it. First of all don't feed him with your hands, I might sound strange but believe me leave the food and the baby alone, give him the spoon and teach him to feed himself (you will have to be patient with that). Children really enjoy when they are on their own and love to be independent. They will mess the whole food, themselves but they enjoy it. My twins are small now but I have seen the same problem with my niece but she picked up when we used to leave the bowl and the spoon with her and taught her how to feed herself she enjoys it. Give a piece of parantha in your son's hand and let him chew it on his own. I don't know if you are already doing this or not so just try it might help....Take care...Neetu
