Behavioural Problems:my 8 year old boy

Name: sokha My son is behaving real bad , he has started to lie about everything . Does not want to do his home work
, throws stuff everywhere .He calls his 6 year old sis. stupid all the time. this boy refuses to listen. I dont want him on medication but he leaves me no choice,and then when I look at his mom she has lot of the same traits. I can not change her but I want to bring my son up right .I know he is acting and does some things like his mom ,again that is the last thing I want from my son.And the boy does not show interest in any sports, he play american football , he is never focussed in the game. I really don't know what to do , any suggestions ????

Sorry for the outspoken comment but its true. Your son does what he does only because YOU allow him to do that and on top of it, he see's that YOU allow his mother to do it. Learn to be firm and consistent about how you don't like what your son is doing. Take away the things he loves most in his room or anywhere in the house, and only give it back to him when he shows you that he deserves them back. Remember your the parent. Now start acting like one

It is quite clear that your son is craving for attention and love. Since the age gap between your son and daughter is quite less he was probably neglected after she was born. He is trying his best to draw attention to himself by his behaviour.
Spend quality time with him. Make him feel important as a person. Medication is the last thing you should attempt - love, trust and empathy is what he is looking for.
