Hi!Sushmitha
You seem to be doing a good job with your sugars..
As for snacks, I eat 3..bno before dinner snack since I eat dinner by 6:30
Here are the choices I make
Bread and peanut butter
Cheese stick, almonds
half banana and a small cup of milk.
I am not a rice eater...usually eat rotis only. Yogurt though healthy is not something I enjoy either.
If u eat non veg..try eating chicken and fish for protein instead of dal..but hey a small bowl of dal doesn't have a lot of starch...my personal physician who is also Indian told me this. Rice and potatoes are the only really high starch things in our diet.

I ahve a ques for you..when do u check your fasting sugar.
I acn understand that it must be hard to kep off rice being a south Indian...but it is only a matter of another month or so.
I am on insulins now..and that's how I cheer myself up..I have decided not to let it interfere with my life...I am fond of eating out...but am supposed to take insulin shot before dinner..so we just carry it with us.my hubby gives me the shot in the car, we get off and head to the restaurant!
Anyway ..take care and a very happy dusshehra to u too!

Hi! sushmitha,
I just wrote u a mail on ur yahoo id as well.
Drinking milk first thing in the morning or cheese may not be a good idea since these things elevate blood sugar really fast. you could have milk as afteroon snack.
Try eating dinner earlier..around 7 or so
Tomatoes don't cause sugar to rise..no veggie does except squash, beetroot and potato..so don't worry
My first one was a C section..and will probably go for the sam this time...its nothing to worry..i could feed her within an hour and was up on my feet the second day and was very active by the 10th day..do what's best for the baby...sometimes C is best for both baby and mom...just have faith in God and ur doc!

Hi Bhavana,
thanks for the tips I think I have to stick to what I'm eating. Wednesday I ate bread with peanut butter as breakfast and reading is within the range. From yesterday I changed to bread and cheese+tomato and my reading got up 162mg/dl. If I eat cheese at the time of lunch its ok . Can u tell me why is that? Yesterday I thought may be I couldn't do walking so its raised but today I did 20min walking even then its raised(163mg/dl). Or is it tomato I couldn't understand why?
The fasting reading is in range 90mg/dl.
I eat dinner at 8:30-9pm and 11pm milk and bread.
I'll take my fasting reading mostly at 8:30-9am in the morning.
I'm in my 30th week so another few more weeks but kind of worrying about c-section.

Very good doctor
Hi,

I delived a baby boy in March 2009. I consulted Dr.Chitra Ramamurthy during my pregnancy cycle. She' s one of the best doctors in Bangalore. Not many people know about her. She handled the entire process in a very professional manner. I used to visit her clinic in Jayanagar 3rd block. She is very caring and affable. She says what to do and what not to do. ... - Sandhya Rao [View Message]

So long as your baby is feeding, that' s all that really matters. These days, formulas are packed with everything the baby needs, and although it is never as good as breast milk, it' s perfectly fine. It sounds like maybe what you are missing is the bonding that breast feeding provides? My first child had both breast and bottle milk for the first 6 months, when I had a mis... - Jhumri [View Message]
