Behavioural Problems:love in preteens

Name: susmita I would like to invite advice from parents of preteens facing a similar sad but apparently prevalent situation ...
My friend's 9 year old daughter presumes that she is in love with her classmate.The situation totally knocked the breath out of her mom. she is clueless as to how to handle the situation, whether to confront her daughter with what she accidently discovered... or else do what????
Any suggestions will be eagerly awaited and welcome...!!!Please help!!!

love is not a bad thing

Hi I have no experience raising a preteen but have been one so here it is.
I do not think ur friend should be knocked out of her breath. I know it is kinda hard to see your baby say such things. This is when it hits parents that their baby is no longer a baby to the world. I think we have to hear the child out and listen to her. Tell her that it is not love but only a phase and she will have many of those in future. After all, Loving somebody is not wrong if it does not go out of hand.
she will grow out of it.
