Trying since long:Urgent Help!!!

Hi Archie!

I have this serious problem and i hope you'll definitely be able to help me out!!!

I have been married for 3 and half yrs now and i have always been having a regular 28-day cycle before and after marriage except for a couple of times (the first time was the month i got married and the next was the month i came here to the US...i understand that its usual to have a change in the cycle due to anxiety, etc).

For the past couple of months, a few days before my period (don't remember exactly how many days!) i had a spotting one day...but still got my period on the day i was supposed to get. But this month i haven't got my periods yet (its almost a week) and also i have an abdominal pain on the left side, which started 2days after i missed my period. This pain is sometimes mild & sometimes severe. I had a similar pain for a couple of days last month, a few days before i got my period.

I'm not trying to conceive..but we dont use any protection while having sex as my husband is not comfortable using condoms & i dont want to use any birthcontrol pills. I'm pretty sure that nothing could have possibly gone wrong and i actually don't remember if we did during my fertile days. Still i took an EPT 3 days after i missed my period and got a negative result.

I had an appointment with the doctor and got a vaginal ultrasound & a bloodwork done yesterday. The doctor says that everything is fine with the ultrasound result. I'll be getting the result of the bloodwork tomorrow...But i can be pretty sure that i'm not pregnant and the doctor also said that she doesn't think that iam. But still wanted me to wait for the result of the bloodwork after which she would put me on some pills to get my cycle back, if the result of the bloodwork is negative too.

When i asked for the reason why my cycle is delayed she said that it might be due to stress and it is normal to happen this way sometimes. I forgot to mention that i'm doing my M.S here.

I also can agree to a point that it might be due to stress as i'm extrememly busy with my coursework this semester. But what is worrying me is the abdominal pain. I still persists mildly and i doubt if everything is fine with me. I'm planning to start ttc after January as i'll be done with my Masters. I'm scared if these problems will affect me ttc. What could be the reason for my abdominal pain? Also i want to know if taking some pills to bring my cycle back to normal is fine.

Please reply ASAP Archie...I'm totally worried and am not able to concentrate on anything.

Thanks in advance...
Regards,
Shruthi.

Dear Shruthi

See a GP to check on your pain on the left side. It's probably not related to pregnancy. Take care
