Problems in School:my son is rejected by his peers

Hi,
My son constantly complains that the kids don't play with him. Even if they let him play, they always want him to be a bad guy in their game. I don't know what to do about this.

I am stressed over the fact that raising a kid as calm, attentive obedient student doesn't match with the culture here in USA. Our kids are left of without friends, any comments.

I agree with you - if your child is not as violent / familiar with violence as the others, he is made to feel inferior. Its not fair that he may not know how to punch someone (forget the fact that he may be smart/loving/caring). I guess that's life and we just need to teach them what we believe.

Thank you both. I will definitely take you advise. I tried that bribing thing. It seems to work.

I have 2 kids who also faced similar problems when we moved newly onto the city. As I found out about the children they wanted to be friendly with, I started befriending their parents-inviting them over for a chit-chat while the kids play together or taking them over to their friend's.SOmetimes I even took some of friends along for a movie or picnic. For their school friends, I let them take an occassional chocolate or stickers for his friends.Though this sounds like bribing, believe me it works to atleast get a openning into the group after which the child's own personality takes over.Yes the younger ones do get bullied a little bit but as long it dosen't cross the limits, you can stand aside and watch.Dont get too protective. It all works out just fine.

My son also says the same thing. He is only 3.

I dont know how old your son is but I have been teaching him to try and try again. This is a life long effort for all things.

I know how cruel children can be, but we as parents have to teach our children how to deal with rejections in life.

I have found (in my limited experience) that if parents try to get to know their childrens' peers it helps. Have you made the effort?

Let me know......
