Math learning requires two things - learning computation and developing math reasoning. Since your child is 6 years old. Possibly, he has problem in computation. Please identify his specific computational problem
and rectify it through practice.

I have heard from many parents that math suddenly gets tough after the 6th grade. Try teaching the concepts ahead of time. Also, give similar problems at home and make him do it independently. If he makes a silly mistake guide him through that. Positively reinforce without criticizing. This might help.

After 6th grade, math requires numerical reasoning ability at the preliminary level. Possibly, this is the reason.
