Foetal Growth Movements:Delayed ovulation & Fetal devolpment

Hi All

I have a strange situation..I always had irregular periods(mennorhagia), but I recently underwent a treatment in October to regulate the cycles as I wanted to get pregnant. I was on ovulation tablets for 1 month. Just that I was lucky enough...we tried & I concieved in Nov. I had LMP on 27th Oct. Got the Preg test done on 3rd Dec and it was +ve. My Gynae asked me to have USG done after 15th Dec to check the fetal heartbeat. I went to her today(20th Dec) and USG report shows that the fetus is just 4 weeks and 6 days old!..and I was thinking it would be about 8 weeks! The doctor told me that I actually had delayed ovulation, and I would have ovulated & concieved around 30th Nov. (The test was +ve on 3rd Dec itself). Counting backwards, I should have had periods on 16th Nov..but that didnt happen. Now I am quite confused..whether its normal? My Gynae said that the pregnancy looks healthy as the placenta formation looks good...and its very active. Now she has called me again for another USG in 1st week of Jan 05. Anybody else who experienced the same as I have? Would really appreciate yr response!!!

Regards
Nicky

Hi Nicky,
I have always had delayed periods and was taking pills to requlate cycles and eventually concieved. My dates did not match at all. Infact acording to fetal age i would have concieved two weeks later than usual or maybe more. The doctor advised two ultrasounds at intervals to check growth of fetus. All look good and i am in my fifth month. A lot of women with delayed periods will never have a sure due date. Don't worry and enjoy your pregnancy.

Dear Nicky,
Congratulations on your pregnancy.

Wait and watch what's scene in next USG. If that time baby shows gestation that's about 7 weeks or 7 weeks 6 days then you have nothing to worry.

Judging your symptoms looks a healthy pregnancy.

No you could not have ouvlation on Nov 30th. Looks like around or after Nov 26th.

You did not get period is not a surprise, it happens sometime that you don't ovulate at all and something must have hindered your menses, don't worry too much.

Sure enough that you did not ovulate as you calculated neither you ovulated on Nov 30th, you won't get positive hpt on Dec 3rd. So your ovulation has to be at least 6-8 days before Dec. 3.

Keep me updated with your next USG.
Archie

Just to add on:
I dont feel nausea at all...but I feel dizzy & hungry off and on...and my breats feel like more tender and a bit swollen. Is nausea hereditary too...my mom never had for her 3 deliveries..so just wondering if anyone else felt the same way...
I am on progestrone supplements also because of history of irregular periods to support my pregnancy..
This is my 1st pregnancy so...am bit curious to have all this info! :-)

RE:adoption in a family
hey ananya this is really a very sensitive case and you should think about it before hand as in what the child would think in future as he or she grows up. Or else you will have to do counselling of the child at the right time.... - ridhi [View Message]

Hi Rupal,
So don't you have any other option because it would be very hard for you to abort the child know.So better ask for any other source if not then you decide what to do.... - Amani [View Message]
