Postpartum depression usually sets in soon after childbirth and develops gradually over a period of several months. The exact reasons why some new mothers develop postpartum depression and others don’t are unknown. Aside from the support of your loved ones and plenty of rest, no treatment is necessary if symptoms are not that severe.
