my son who is 1 yr old now has severe cold and cough.i went to the dr and he said he is normal as hechecked and couldn't find any weezing etc....i am givin him honey and gineger juice but nothing has helped .he is suufering form this for last 15 days.he stopped eatig ebverything only he is taking formula in good amount other then this no solids at all.I am quite tensed as it will make him dull and he will reduce weigt.pls pls usgest me something good so that i can give him natural.
what are the basil leaves will it be benefecila for my babbay .I am also pregnnat and suffering form cold and cough till jow no medicine but whta should i do yto get rid of it/

anju hello replied. you can try drinking half a teaspoon of turmeric(haldi) in 1/4 cup of warm milk in an empty stomach n the morning. do it for a week. i'm sure your cough and cold will go. usually in my family when anybody gets cough cold or sore throat we are doing it and we are getting relief.

if you are fit,,your baby will be better...
yes basil leaves will help your baby cold to soothe..boil some leaves in water and offer this water thru out the day.there are other tips with basil,,check on indiaparenting remedies section,,some pretty nice ones are there,,check your baby age before you try them out !

if you have given turmerric milk,offer 8z of warm/lukewarm but boiled milk(1/4th-1/2tsp of turmeric,,if baby doesnot like the taste,adding sugar wwill work,,but avoid that as much as pssble..or go less qty of turmeric)

about colds,,dont try home remedies for more than 3-4days,,if it cold continues after that,,,,contact your dr,,if your dr says its normal means its seasonal cold and your baby needs some Over the counter cold medicine,,,so ask for it ! or offer the one that relates to your baby symptoms,,generally 1/4tsp of OTC medicine in US, is given every 6-8hours for cold or cough/stuffynose or sore throat probs..so keep one handy in your home for seasonal colds..its handy,,,
if he doesnt recover with this OTC in 5days,,your baby needs dr attention !
at first, take medications for yourself,,to avoid spreading viral seasonal cold...
