Except in last june, she never had any fever or cold till now. That too for 2 days and she was back to normal.

She has received all vaccinations till now except BCG which is given in India but not in US.

your dr just wants to make sure that your baby is not having ne sign of tuberculosis..or rather he doubts and wants to make sure its not TB...esp because BCG was not given...,,as fever, cold and thn cough COULD BE the prilimnry signs TB...
your baby was not given bcg vaccine which is given to protect against tuberculosis.
In US, its not given because the risk of getting infected from TB is very rare or let me add there is Low risk of mycobacterium tuberculosis,,and only those children are given these,,who have a negative tuberculin skin test and who are constantly exposed and cannot be seprtd from adults who have TB and others include health care workers...otherwise its unlikely that drs in US will suggest it.and others are hiv infecteds, organ transplant and pregnant women who have risk of these diseases..

that is how chest x-ray,mantoux comes in picture..rest all wbc,hb,is common blood test done almost in all cases of viral infections,,..

there is nothin to worry unless your baby starts coughing, gets night sweats, gets extrmly high fever...
additional symptoms include breathing probs, chest pains, cough that has discoloured mucus...and your baby starts reducing wght in days..so keep an eye on these factrs..until you get test done..

as far as its just normal viral infection,,which will be seen in blood test,,it shouldnt be prob,,if the the above test i said/tb ones,,comes positive,,its likely that your baby might have TB....

lets keep fingrs crossed that there are no worries and its just normal viral infection or a normal cold attack.
go by whatever your dr says,,its worth doing it and take care of your baby and avoid ne allergens that might trigger cough...

keep him away from strong smells and chemicals, smoking persons,,ne person infected with fever and from pollution,,atleast until you get the test done...after that let the test decide !

keep your baby fresh all the time,,and remove the mucus from nose as freq as you can,,
make him sleep elevated,,
give him mosambi juice(fresh,room temperature),,and
lots of other vit c diet...

offer him healthy diet with lots of warm soups,,, reduce dairy and meat and fish,,but dont compromise on milk feeds,,

keep your baby covered with cottons with 2-3layers dpdning on cold at your place,,at the same time make sure his body temperature does not rise...

all this if it works,,he will recover by 1 week-10 days,, with medication from your dr..

expect loss of apetite during viral infection.... but keep trying,,empty stomach with medicnes will make health condition worst..keep him well hydrated as well !

by then your dr will figure out cause dpnding on blood test results !
this is all in my reach and this is all== i can help you with......hpe it helps.

will appreciate an update ! dont worry,,just be careful, take care.a very good luck to you and hope there are no worries...

RE: Eczema concern
Hello,

I had a similar query a few months ago concerning eczema occuring in toddlers. As far as I know, it can be due to a varrying number of factors and common foods that end up causing the condition in 1-2 year old toddlers.

In my research I found this article really helpful in addressing the problem:
