Developmental Concerns:Stubborn Child!!!!!Help me Plz......

I am very concerned for my 2yr 8 month old daughter. She is a very bright, intelligent n cheerful child but off late she has become quite a difficult child to handle. She alwayz wants to go out in the park or mall etc. We try to take her out in the evenings for a walk or to a children' s park so that she can interact with people. She really enjoys people' s company, be it children or elders. She loves to be in the company of whole lot of people. I am worried regarding her stubborn attitude. If she wants a certain thing she will yell, shout, cry n do anything to get that thing. i have tried explaining things to her with lot of love n affection. if she does not listen then i try to be little more authoritative in my speech. n finally when she does not listen to me at all i feel like spanking her to make her understand or to scare her. But even this has not helped me. Moreover, she sometimes hits be back if her wish is not granted. i am really worried for her. i want her to develop into a very positive, happy n disciplined child. She was such a sweet n adjusting child but i dont know what happen to her suddenly?? Plz help me with your suggestions n advices. Thanx in advance.

Have you tried time outs? Or maybe take away her favorite doll if she contnues screaming. Last resort, let her tantrum run its course. Don' t give in, although the temptation will be strong. When kids realise they can' t manipulate their parents anymore, they usually sober up! Good luck!

hi Daya,
Thanx for your suggestion!!! i have tried taking her favourite toys. that has´ nt helped much. i also try not to pay attention to her tantrums and go back to her only when she becomes normal. it has somehow made her realise that i don´ t give in to her demands but unfortunately it has not helped to lessen her tantrums. i have not tried time-outs so far. therefore, i think i should go by ur advice n start with time-outs. thanx once again. will keep you posted with the developments.

kids fitness through play and games
since i have been training young kids for motor skills and fun fitness for a while i see that kids develop most of their sports movements then and as early as 4 years. parents need to be aware that forcing kids into sports at a very early age will not get them far, as they end up losing interest quickly. ... - Sunny Singh [View Message]
