Hi Friends,
I am from india and mother of 3 years old son, who is in one of the best school in nursey class. We both are working. He went to playschool at 1 year old.
Recently he is going to new school. Every month on the first saturday, school organise a teacher-parents meeting.
Today itself we came from his school and his teacher was saying that :
He is very slow in drawing/arts.
He doesnt take part in Nursery rhymes.
He doesnt do action in the class.
He doesnt want to mix up with his classmates.
He is not active atall.

All those things he is doing at home. He is very active at home and public places.
I dont understand why he is not doing all these in the class.
Now i am worried about him. Infact both of us encourage him a lot and in the evening , we almost sit with him and teach alphabets, colours etc.

Can anyone guide me what we have to do with him for his improvement ???

Hi,
Your little Boy has joined a new school as i understand from yr message. Its quite common for many kids to take time to adjust to a new place, even we as adults take time to adjust to a new atmosphere, so hes just a kid. well i would say the class teacher should be more patience and encourage the kid and be more friendly towards these kind of kids to make them settle fast in a new atmosphere.
be patience with yr kid. take yr little one early to class and spend 5 minutes with him. talk to other parents and kids and you too try to make some friends for your baby, so he has someone to play and talk with at school.

I agree with Sunanda, dont worry too much. Ur boy will be fine before you know. Since he is very active at home or public places, he seems to be fine. Look into the following habits of urself and ur spouse which could be affecting the kid:
1. Do u sleep very late (esp the kid), does he get enough sleep?
2. Are you putting too much pressure on the kid to learn, draw, write, sing..
3. Is the teacher putting lot of pressure?
4. Encourage him to spend more time with friends of his age, does he have friends near ur home? once he spends time with his age friends, he will learn to mix more with them and hence will compete naturally and try to do things they do..

I have a three year old with the same problem. My daughter who is like a superactive kid at home keeps so quiet at the school. I get worried about too. I have also spoken to her teacher she says she would learn. But if anyone can think of any tricks let me know.

Hi there,

I think you are more worried unnecessarily. I am sure he is a normal kid but is just 3 years old, and he is still too young for doing the above activities.
You should allow him to be free at this age, and let him be himself.
Are you being presurised by the school authorities about your sons performance?
I would recommend that you should enroll your son atleat a year later into the nursery class, as then his mind will be developed to cope up with the activities.
And this will also be better in the long run.
