Hi

I weaned my baby when she was 1.5 years old till then I fed her breast milk and yes it was very difficult getting her used to dairy milk. She was ofcourse never on formula so I was lucky that way.

I did make one mistake though - I put her on whole milk as soon as I weaned her and that would get too heavy for her. So recently I consulted a paediatrician who is also a mom and she told me to mix one part water with two parts toned milk and this seems to working well. Also this is a good time to wean your baby from formula to dairy milk. You might have problems later.

Hi Andrea - my baby is 1.5 years old and he is still on formula because dairy milk doesn't agree with him. We are going to try soy. Doctors here (US) have said that by 1 year they should be on whole milk, this is a good age for you to start to transition your baby to whole. Maybe start with 1/2 bottle feeding for 2 weeks, if it agrees then increase to 1 bottle then 2 bottles and so on. One other suggestion is that you get your baby off the bottle slowly to drinking from a sippy cup becuase it will be easier for you later on.

Lots of luck and please let me know how things are going.
