Bowel and Bladder Movements:Constipation in children

My 4 year old daughter is severly constipated. Usually I have to resort to glycerin suppositories to relieve her, since she complains that it is paining her too much. Motions are usually every three days and that too with a lot of fuss and to-do. What should I do? I hear honey with lemon is good for constipation. But honey is supposed to make people lose weight. My daughter is already very slim, so what do you suggest?

As mentioned by other mom, raisins are good. Also give her fruits like orange and grapes. Besides that give her milk and cereal. If she doesn't like it; give her cereal like cheerios by itself as snacks. You may try \";Somva 34\"; too.

Give Her Prune Juice Everyday and lot of fluids. Give her Warm water to drink very often. Raisins are also supposed to release constipation. Give her few raisings every day.

Hope this helps.

At the same time the child is feeling some pain So try to understand and consult a doctor.... - sharmasanvi [View Message]
RE:bowel movement in 2 week old infant
Some babies go through phases when they either can't use the muscles to empty their bowels or they "forget how to". In that case, it's safest keep using the suppositories daily to make them do a dirty in 5 minutes.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:where can I get laxative?
You can get either glycerin or bisacodyl suppositories in any Indian pharmacy - I recommend saving money by not buying child-size ones, instead cutting adult supps in half to make a child-size dosage.
(I have a daughter with long-term bowel issues: she can't "do" without them!)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:constipation
When the baby is in discomfort from constipation (especially if she hasn't done some dirty for two days or more), the first thing you should give is a glycerin suppository.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:hi
Most doctors say banana doesn't help - the potassium in it makes constipation worse. Remember you can make your own prune puree in a blender. Grape, grapefruit and papaya are also laxative fruits. And remember you can safely use baby suppositories as often as you need to (they also help with "training" the baby to do a dirty at the same time every day)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:Baby Movements/Development
Consult a good doctor immediately as this should not be ignored as it will cause a big issue if you let it go now, please seek doctors advice on immediate basis.... - Aditi [View Message]
RE:Baby Movements/Development
Hi there please be calm and relax as it happens sometime the child takes little time to start walking or crawling also but in your case the child should have started crawling if not walking.... - Anita [View Message]
