Hi! A five year old boy/girl can have a normal indian diet. Breakfast dishes like small plate upma, poha, or 1 normal size dosa with honey or dal chatni, 2 idli with honey or chatni, small bowl of conflakes, 1 paratha and any fruit of his liking. after 3 to 4 hrs he can have lunch that includes 1.5 chapaties with any veg he likes and small bowl of dal. Again during evening snacks he can have half glass milk along with biscuits or pastries without icing or small bowl of home cooked pasta, spaghetti. And during dinner he can have dal rice with veg and any home cooked sweets. In between the four meals if the boy wants munching, you can give him fruits or any other light and healthy munching.

Kirti replied. very good information. I was always worried if my child is having enough food or not. I never knew what to give and how much but after reading this I am quite clear. Thanks for the information,.
Simran replied. Hi, I agree this is the right diet for a 5 yr old. As he is in a growing stage, so he needs to have a healthy diet and to meet the energy requirement he needs to have frequent meals. In addition to this a child should have fresh fruits and vegetables also.
