hey guys...

i'm so tired of people pressure to feed my baby 'THE SOLID' food...she is almost 13 months but has only 4 lower teeth! she hates anything that is dry n sticks in her throat...everything needs to be very mushy n wet that she can just gulp!! i dont know what i should do! if i try to give her small pieces of chapati or paratha or watevr she eats a bit n then starts caughing n eventually throws up everything...
currently im in india and everyone here is pushing me to feed her n feed her n feed her....and she is just not making it easy!
she is not yet adjusted to indian climate yet...still fighting with indigestion n cough n cold etc...everytime she falls sick she gets fussier with her food intake....she is not gaining good weight either....she is not able to digest indian milk ( even used in the cooking)
she used to love yogurt in US but here she hardly eats the curd...she just loves fruit juices and thats it.

please kind souls help me out here!!!! give me ideas...

good luck with your tiny ones!

love,
anjali.

Hi Anjali,

I have 14 months old daughter and I just wanted to share my thoughts.

I could really understand what you are going through and it is really frustrating when your baby is not eating well and others thrusting their ideas on you. Pls. understand your baby's insticts in terms of the solid feeding. Actually most babies do not eat dry things like chapathis 7 paratha at the age of 13 or 14 months. What you can do is soak chapathi in milk and then try to feed her or you can try toasting a wheat bread with little ghee and soak the same in milk. Their feeding skills improve as they grow when they learn to coordinate chewing & swallowing. Always do whatever you think is right for your baby although itz good to listen to other's thoughts & ideas to some extent.

Pls. consult your child's doctor immedietly if you think she is not able to digest cow's milk. They will be able to suggest you the alternatives. Also certain foods may cause allergy to certain babies and itz the best to avoid such food if we think itz causing any problem.

Donot worry. I am sure she will be fine. Good Luck !

Regards,
Priya.

I'm also a concerned about my 10 month old daughter. She does not like semi-solid food. If I blend it in blender she is able to swallow it. If I try to mash it in hand and give it to her she does not like it and throws it off.

I believe we will have to wait for a while and try semi-solid again. So don't worry feed her soft foods for a while and try dry foods later.
