Hi

I have 4 1/2 yr old son and he is leaking the urine now a days, he doesn't go until the last minute and leaks some drops of urine in his underware. Is this any health problem or is this common for this age group kids, can somebody suggest me who knows about this kind of issue. I appreciate the postings. Thanks so much!

Hi! Goodness, I can still remember doing that when I was around his age! It was embarassing so I wouldn't admit it. Make sure not to say anything in front of friends or maybe even other family members, especialy children. If he has trouble holding it in, you could teach him to let just a little bit out at a time, like a game, when he goes at the toilet, because this strenthens the bladder. It's also good for adults because then when you are old you will have less problems with that. Mostly though, he'll grow out of it. Just be glad he is having so much fun & keeping busy so much that he doesn't want to use the restroom. That's probably the only reason for it :). Life is too exciting when you're 4 years old to stop just to pee when you could do it in your pants ;).

Thanks Julie, if he is at home if I notice he feels like go, I'll ask him to go to the bathroom, but at school he doesn't go until last minute. Especially when they are playing outside. What to do? we tell him everyday that you must run to the bathroom when you need to go. He says Okay, but while playing with his friends he doesn't want to stop playing and doesn't want to go to bathroom.

My daughter does it cause she is to busy to stop and go to the bathroom. I call it the pee-pee dance. I use to do it when I was little and my mother still does it. You know that if there was something wrong like bleeding or fever or weight loss or no appetite you might want to call the doctor just to ask and they will probably go down the list of what to be concerned with health wise . That is what I have always found.
