Developmental Concerns:night waking issue with a 3yr old

hello all,
im new to this board.read quite a lot of articles and letters on this site.I have a son who has completed 3yrs in dec 2008.He has started preschool.During his night sleep,he cries thinking of things that happened during the course of the day.For eg.we would have shopped in a mall during the day/evening..he cries that he wants to go there immediately at night around 2am..i try to console him saying we will go tomorrow ,when the sun is up..he cries saying the sun hasnt come..etc..somethings like this. The next day its something different..that he cries for..He is just not able to get these things off his head..i dont know what to do..because these kind of episodes happen almost every night and his sleep is disturbed for 2-3hrs.As a result his sleep is not proper and he doesnt want to get up in the morning for school. My husband and myself dont take him out everyday as a result of this and he is ok the days we dont take him out..may b once a week when we go out..he cries that night for sure.
And regarding school, its new to him - the separation,etc..he seems to like it(the activites @ school) but doesnt accept it.All that he tells me about school,is that his teacher scolded him.I asked him why his teacher scolded him(what did he do,that irritated the teacher) he said he didnt sit in his chair and cried..and thats why the teacher scolded him.So i talked to him(even now at times) ,repeatedly tell him that his teacher is like his mother in school..he should listen to her etc..He is ok with that now..but this sleep problem is terrible.he just doesnt listen and cries a lot.
And one more thing is that he puts up a big tantrum when he is tired and feeling sleepy..refuses to come to his bed..
can anyone suggest how i can get over this?? has anyone faced such situations with their child? pls let me knw.

kids fitness through play and games
since i have been training young kids for motor skills and fun fitness for a while i see that kids develop most of their sports movements then and as early as 4 years. parents need to be aware that forcing kids into sports at a very early age will not get them far, as they end up losing interest quickly. ... - Sunny Singh [View Message]
