Hi I am to be married in a years time, but i have a problem,I have visible, dark thick hair on my buttocks. It is very distressing,as I keep thinking about the hair,it may sound petty but i'm afraid for my future husband to see it.I used to shave this area when i was about twelve years old,out of stupidity as there wasn't much hair. But now it is thick,my sister says to wax it before wedding, but will it grow thicker?i know once i wax i have to continue with it,i want to remove the hair but is waxing the best option? should i use other methods like the hair buffer called 'hair off'?if i start waxing from now, will the hair thin a little? What other methods can i use?I don't know what to do,please advise me,i want to concentrate on other things and not have to worry about this problem.

. . . would have to check with your doctor with respect to the medication and its impact on hair growth. My experience from my swimming days suggests maybe after two to three thorough waxings the hair will thin slightly / take far longer to regrow.

That said, if your hair growth/thickness is largely due to medication, I am really not in a position to comment/speculate.

Any effects will be cumulative, and not instantaneous.

In the off-chance your medication is the birth control pill, you can ask your doctor about non-hormonal birth control pills. I think i have recently seen ads for Saheli? The chemical name escapes me.

. . . is probably the best thing to do. A little pain for lasting effects. And you can combine it with a Brazilian wax at a reputable spa/beauty parlour. Your husband will love the results =)

Shaving in and of itself does not necessarily thicken hair. But it does not leave a smooth surface and the fact you shave your bottom will be noticeable.

I would recommend against depilatory creams as they ten to be very harsh chemicals which break down the hair. Used improperly, they can actually cause your skin to be burned!

I have made several posts on the Love/Sex forums regarding hair removal. Though the area is different, but the same after-hair removal care rules are still applicable.

As an aside, it is more likely the hair thickened after you shaved it because you were going through puberty at the time, rather than shaving itself.

Thanks for the advice, yes waxing sounds like the best option, but i was also wondering if the hair will thin a bit and how long will it take for the hair to be reduced. The excess hair is due to medication I've been taking,i've checked with the doctor and don't have a hormonal balance, but the medication stimulates hair growth.
