Eating Problems:Toddler Diet Chart

Hi Mothers,
My daughter is going to turn 3 shortly and she is equally excited to join pre-school soon. She weighs just 12 kgs and looks very thin. i am very worried for her and want her to gain some weight, atleast somewhere around 14-15 kgs which is the ideal weight of a 3-yr-old child. She hates milk. We are pure vegetarians. I need your help lovely mothers!!!! Plz help me prepare a nutritious and healthy diet chart for my bundle of joy.......

There is no problem if child hates milk give her cheese,some milk shake.You can try corn flakes also if she likes.To put on weight you can give her banana milk shake.Do not force her for anything.My daughter is also same but now she eats everything including milk also.She is 2 and a half year old.

Thanx Shikha for your advice. i tried giving her milk shakes n corn flakes, but she does not like that too. though with great difficulty she has now started taking atleast curd and paneer. i try n give her 1 banana once a day. sometimes she takes otherwise she does not even like to have a bite of it. so i am just trying my best to give her the best in a happy mood without forcing her. thanx once again for your suggestion. all the best to you too!!

Hi Simta,

Pls don' t be concerned about your child' s weight. As long as your child doesn' t look ill, is playful eats well and is active u need not worry. Some children are genetically thin and that' s normal. Just accept ur child the way she is because if u keep comparing her weight to other kids not only will u be miserable u will make her also aware of her thinness which might later affect her personality.Also remember that if ur child hates milk introduce her to curd and paneer which are made of milk they are very good for her.

Hi Smita,
Good to know u will be positive in ur approach towards the weight issue. I need to share with u that i have two kids, one 2 and the other 4yrs. Even my kids have the same issue but me and my husband don´ t let the comments of other effect us. The problem is if someone keeps repeating this again and again in front of ur child abut how thin she is be polite and ask then not to comment abut it in her presence because i have seen the efffect of other people´ s comment on my sons mind. He always keeps telling me, when will he become strong and as per him all fat people are strong.So u c how little kids get effected by these comments.We daily try and motivate him by telling him he is normal and healthy and to be strong he doesn´ t need to be fat and slowly he is also realising that.I am sure u will always make ur child realise that she is absolutely healthy.Cheers

Thanx Param for your encouraging words and ur suggestion. i do try not comparing her with other kids but when someone comments her on her thin looks i feel bad for her.She is otherwise a very pretty baby with chubby cheeks and pink rosy lips but people say that her height and weights makes her look like a 2 yr old that makes me very sad. i alwayz try to be positive and happy n want her to grow up as a very positive, smart and intelligent individual but her weight and height makes me scared. Thanx anywayz Param for your positive response n i will surely try to be more realistic n positive in my approach.
