Feeding:Breastfeeding twins.

Hi,

I delivered twins by c-section a month ago. My babies started on formula as I initially could not situp to breastfeed them.

I am trying to breastfeed them now but am not having enough flow. I use the breastpump but can only produce 50ml at the first go and 2hrs later I can only pump out 2ml. I read about Leptaden in one of the messages and would like to know how long should I take it. I am trying very hard increasing fluid intake and consuming fenugreek. Will I be able to produce enough milk to breastfeed both my twins and get them off formula feeding. Please advise.

Vishakha,
10 days back my milk flow was 1 ounce a day now it is around 10. Here is what I do: Drink a lot of water...a lot means a LOT. Are you taking fenugreek capsules? I used to take around 2000 mg a day ( check with a pro though...it worked for me). Pump every 3 hours for at least 20-25 minutes. Now here is the key, do not stop pumping if milk comes after 5 or 10 minutes...keep on pumping. You have to fool the body by sending the message that you need more. When the baby has finished with your breast again pump for another 10-15 minutes. Use a double breasted pump...it is simply great. AND TAKE A LOT OF REST. There are a lot of resources on the net also.
