Bowel and Bladder Movements:Regularizing stools for a 3 and 1/2 month baby

My baby is 3 and half months old and is on both breast milk and formula milk (Nan-Pro). Of late he has been passing motions only once in 3 days. The motion is not hard. However until he passes motion, he doesnot seem to be active and is always restless. Itried giving him water inbetween feeds, add sugar to formula milk, water soaked in raisins- all these did not help. Is there anyway to regularize his motion? Please help me out.

I don' t know if you can get grape juice for babies in your area - you could dilute some. Just give him an ounce a day - that might help.
But then again, three days between \" doos\" is a long gap - I hope you' ve got some suppositories in store!

Some babies go through phases when they either can't use the muscles to empty their bowels or they "forget how to". In that case, it's safest keep using the suppositories daily to make them do a dirty in 5 minutes.... - Su 03 [View Message]

You can get either glycerin or bisacodyl suppositories in any Indian pharmacy - I recommend saving money by not buying child-size ones, instead cutting adult supps in half to make a child-size dosage.

Most doctors say banana doesn't help - the potassium in it makes constipation worse. Remember you can make your own prune puree in a blender. Grape, grapefruit and papaya are also laxative fruits. And remember you can safely use baby suppositories as often as you need to (they also help with "training" the baby to do a dirty at the same time every day)... - Su 03 [View Message]
