Well, if ur baby is doing well, it would be better to wait till completion of 6 months to start solids. This will help him with building his digestive system well.
Also, NO FRUIT JUICE.. Children should be given fruit juice till they are atleast a yr old and even after that if u want to give it, diluet it with 50% water and then give it to ur son.
Rice, Raagi/Nachi , are very good first foods.. And as Light rightly said.. start with 1 thing then wait for a week and then offer something else. Also u can add a lil NAN to his food so he finds the tatste familiar.
Remember that children do not accpet new foods easily .. so take it slow..lil at a time.
Ideally, home made foods are good. However , for convinience and ease we can use ready to use food. However, its better to first start with home made food and then move on to ready to use as most of them contain added sugar n then the child refuses the home made version. A balance between the 2 would be good.
And, children need NO ADDED SGAR OR SALT in their food. try to serve it as it is. Then gradually in 2-3 months time u can add a lil salt to the food.
fruits and veggies can wait till 8-9 months, as their high in fiber n a lil quantity will suffice their lil appetites for a longer duration n then we will complain that they do not eat.
ALso, try to offer veggies before fruits.

good to know tht ur son is a good wght baby, touchwood!!!
anyways,as far as cerelac goes, try waiting till he turns 6 months old.and even then, start with cerelac rice.as for now,you can give him mashed banana.its supposed to be the best first food for babies.:)start by giving him little on the first day and then increase the quantity every subsequent day.continue with banana for 1 week and then u can start the 2nd thing(in the same way).you can proceed with rice water, dal water, paneer water, curd etc.
also,as per my pead, wheat and its derivatives(sooji, dalia) shud be preferably given at 8 months of age.so pls chk in case u plan to start with wheat.and as far as possible, pls give ur son home food.nothing too advantageous about canned foods.my son is 7 and a half months right now and i started him on solids only after he completed 6 months.
