lina replied. first of all it is too early to give ur son rice with dal or veggies.
google ' home made baby food' and klick on the first option and it will tell u all what and when and which food to give ur baby.
dal, rice will come later in the pic. once they r over 2.
take care
Aradhana replied. Hi,
The reason they say that a mixer is not good is because when u mash with ur hands its still has a lil texure to it but when u grind it.. it a paste or semi solid. Once ur child is used to having this.. they start having issues with textures. and then some kids become very choosy and it takes a lot of effort to get out of the habit.
I did what mel used to do for her child. did not freeze it , but i used the mixer. My dd still has a prob with texures though she is two. Well. of cource not all children are like that and many may get out of teh habit is given up early ..like by the 10th month.By then children can chew .. even if they dont have any teeth. they use their jaws for that.
Mel replied. Why on earth is using a mixer not good ? Whenever someone gives you advice like this, always ask them for a valid logic or reason.
It' s ridiculous. I used to cook 1 batch of moong dal, one batch of veggies (cut into big pieces and boiled separately), one batch of rice, one batch of chicken. Once cooked, I used to cool all the food, puree each one separately in the mixer and put into ice cube trays. Pop it in the freezer. After 2 hours, remove the ice cube tray, remove the food cubes & transfer to an airtight container. And put the airtight container back in the freezer. You can use this food for a week. Whenever you want to feed your son, take out what you need, warm it thoroughly and feed him.
But, remember to boil all items separately, puree all items separately and store them in separate airtight containers. I used to have atleast 6-7 containers with different food cubes - Rice, Dal, Potatoes, Carrots, Spinach, Peas, Pumpkin, Chicken etc... But, don' t make a big kichidi everyday. I used to give my son rice dal and one veggie for a meal, repeat for evening meal. Then next day, change the veggie.
