hi,
My son, Jeevan is 3and half years. There is no food that he seems to like. His attention has to be diverted from food to make him eat. Hence every meal takes 2-3 hours. And everyone says that i am feeding him all the time
I just dont know what to do??

my son is 3.5 and no mader what i give him he wont eat and that since he was born every meal is a long game i am after 3.5 year out off idea's how can i make shure he eats enough to grow he is to small and wheigt last week only 29 pound we go see doctor after doctor no help is anyone out there that has a problem like mine?????????
A.Dhar replied. Though I too spend atleast 30mins to an hour feeding my daughter who is 2&1/2 yrs old, I still do not agree to the idea of spending that much time for one meal. I read to my daughter while feeding her and try to make her finish the food in her mouth before we turn the page....it works most of the time. Though I am worried as I would want my daughter to eat by herself, I'm trying my best to be patient.....

My Daughter is One and Half Year old and she just doenst eat food. The Only thing she likes is Milk , whcih the doctor has limited to 500 ml a day, so i give her milk 3 times a day and the rest of the time what ever is offered she doenst eat, and i dont force her ,

i offer her only semi-solid or soild food only 5-6 time at a meal time , she eats a few spoons sometimes but most of the time she doesnt eat.

She loves Coke & Choclates !

I really dont know what to do, as i am against force feeding or sitting with her for 1-2 hour to feed her one meal

Really dont know if i am doing the correct thing ???

smrati replied. My son is also like that. What ever ur son is eating with distraction means, he like that food otherwise he will not eat no matter what u do. I am also facing lot of food problems with my son. He has a sweet tooth. he don't like blend & spicy food. i don't know how i can make to like dal rice & vegetabels. He don't eat all this stuff even with distraction. so be happy that atleast he is eating. Debasish Sen replied. hi Faby
First don’t be puzzle and don’t force him to eat. He is human being so some time he should hungry and then only you give him food, and mind that if you think he will take all the food according your choice then u are wrong, after some time by trial n error method u can understand his test and give him some testy food according his choice, ( it may be a big potato with/ without salt n piper or an egg or a slice of apple, banana, etc.)if he take very small quantity don’t worry feed him in short duration, it will always changeable and u have to find it. And don’t take a lots of time to feed him, he become bored about taking food u spend only 30 min to feed him after this time u just leave this matter and wait when he will be hungry and asking for food and remember some time he should hungry. My child Uttaran is also create a lot of problem to eat he always like to drink only, no solid food, and my wife is puzzle enough to make him a ‘good food guy’ but she can’t, now we put rice powder or saattu or some thing like that and make his drink thicker and he is take the drink with powdered solid food, but don’t make it habit occasionally give him some hard food (like biscuits, bread) also, to make him chewing habit,

My daughter who is 1 and a half has the same problem. She doesn't like eating.
Initially I used to get really angry and desperate when she wouldn't eat,
Later on I understood that whenever I force her to have food, she will make all the fuss,
so I just left her to herself. and I actually found her asking me for food.

I also invented a small song which we both sing while I am putting her food in the plate. Now
whever she is hungry she will go about singing that same song and I know hse is hungry.

Also, while eating she loves to look at pictures of animals and small babies so I ahve kept special books for her mealtimes.

I am in same suitation as you are and my son is also
3 and half years. I have been trying whatever advice I
get from friends and web. I have just accepted the
fact that some kids are like that. All I can do as a
parent is to keep trying, putting 2-3 hrs a meal.
Keep him going this way. I wish phase is over and he
starts eating some of the foods atleast without
getting his mind distracted.
