Hi,

I am flying US to Pune with my Twin girls. They are 10 month old. Can anyone tell me which things I should carry.
Diapers,Food, milk powder, clothes etc
Does airline gives warm water or have to carry thermas(hot water)
Is thermas allowed?
How is any one experience about changing diapers and clothes in flight?
Is it ok to give benadryl to kids(for sleeping for some time)?
Please give me advice
Thanks
Nema

Hi. I can understand your apprehensions.
Things to carry: Diapers, Food, Finger food, ac container with measured scoops of milk powder, empty thermos (as the airline may not let you carry your own water), spare clothes for your twins, spare clothes for YOU and your HUBBY or travelling companions. (My son threw up on my hubby and they both needed to change their clothes inflight.)
Forget the bassinet. But, do ask for a FRONT, AISLE seat. Do not ask for a window seat, as you will have to push through other people whenver you want to walk around with your infants, take them to the loo, or anything else. But, take my advice, forget the bassinet.

Airline bassinets are meant for 8 month olds. My son was 9 months old, and his legs were hanging out of the bassinet. He was so cramped and so uncomfortable. Plus, it was so hard for us to even stand up as it occupied quite a lot of space.

If you have car seats, then that would be a better option.

You get specific sedatives which can be administered to children (on the advice of a doctor) for long flights. But, the option is yours. You can keep it handy and only give it to them if they are unusually cranky, upset or tired. Otherwise, let them be.

As for changing, there is a changing table in some loos of the airplane. Ask the cabin crew to guide you to the loo which is fitted with the changing table. They also provide diapers, but I prefered to carry my own. The changing table is quite hard, so carry a shawl or something which you can place under baby' s head while changing.

Carry some soft toys and soft cloth books. (Soft so that if they decide to fling it at someone, the imapct will be less.) This will keep them engaged during the flight.

Make sure to give them water and other liquids to drink frequently as flights have a dehydrating effect. And as Puja said, make sure they BOTH are drinking something during take off and landing, as this will prevent their ears from popping due to air pressure. This can be very painful and can be avoided if they are sucking and swallowing (milk, juice or water).

hello nema, i must say its a long journey for u and ur babies. but don' t worry people do fly with infants., do call the airline and check with them as i know in my case cabin crew helped me a lot by providing me hot watr for making my babies formula. do carry thermos as u can ask them to fill it with warm water and wont bother them every 3-4 hrs. do book fornt row seat which have a bassinet or as u have twins carry one wth u too as u can put ur sleeping baby in it and relax ur-self too. if u r flying alone then u can ask the airhostess to help u with the baby when u are changing the diapers. and no benadryl is not at all safe for 10 months old it has very high alcohol content for such small babies. try to give ur babie' s water in their bottles as the plane takes off and also when the plane lands as the air pressure can cause their ear to ache. don' t worry babies do sleep a lot during flights as moving plane rocks them to sleep. make ur-self and them friendly with the crowd in that way other people come forward to help u when they watch u struggling alone. and do carry medicines ( kids medicines) like nasal drops ( nasivion-mini) in case of runny nose, calpol drops in case of fever, senarest syrup in case of cold and flu (this has sedative property)., do carry disprin or crocin for ur-self too in case u have a body ache. but don' t worry , best of luck and travelling with kids is an experience youll recall later and laugh..as i do.
