Hi,
My baby is 8 months old now. She drinks water during the time I feed her solids. If I give one spoon of food then I give one spoon of water. Somehow she spits most of the water.

Can you moms please tell me what are ways in which I can make her drink water?

Im not sure if its right or wrong..but my daughter who is 1.7 years old..never drank much water..so I started adding some juice to it..like these fruit pulps..or rasna fruit plus etc..so i feed it to her through a nuby straw bottle..so she easily drinks a lot of it..!!

I feel juices like rasna fruit plus or glucose-D is good for kids..they hv Vitamin C..so I found it effective.

My son is 18 months old now and still hardly drinks any water. You haven' t mentioned whether she is constipated.

If she is drinking milk, eating solids, and has normal stool, then the water content in her body is fine. you don' t have to give her water with food. Offer her a glass with a little water at the end of the meal. If she drinks it, fine, if not, let it be. Somtimes, the food that we offer has a certain quantity of water... like vegetables and fruits. So, as long as her stool is fine, keep giving her the same food that you are giving, and offer her water now and then. I keep a big plastic glass of water somewhere near him when he' s playing. It has a lid with an attached straw. Sometimes while playing, he will take it himself and drink a few sips. Otherwise, when he goes down to play, I take it along. After they tire themselves outside they tend to feel thirsty.

Babies who are breastfeed rarely need any water. Moreover babies whose primary feed is milk only, donot have much water requirement. Why are you giving one spoon of solid followed by a spoon of water to your baby. Water should be after the solid meal not in between. And don' t fuss about water much because if the baby wants it he would surely drink it.

Hi,
She will not drink water after giving food. That is why I give it in between the foods.
