Dear all,

My daughter who is nearly 13 months old weighing 8.1kgs currently sometimes vomits her meals in full force....like yest she was eating khicdi and when i fed the last spoon to her she burped and vomitted. Once in 3-4 days she does vomit her meals...its not that she does not like the meal . Is she gassy or suffering from acidity ? What could be the reason?

What steps to be taken to remedy such a situation?

Hi Mahieka,
yes i too have the same problem with my 7 month old child. She almost stopped eating everythng and then i realised her stomach was upset.Keep few things in mind-don' t make her overeat even if she remains bit hungry. Also maintain reasonable time 2.5-3 hrs gap between her meals.REduce on gassy foods and even dal daily...or in worse case..gv her a day' s gap without giving anythng to eat. This may help as well..BTW is she BF or FM ?

I think your daughter is just gulping the food down too fast. When you said burped and threw up, it means an ai buddle got trapped and when it came up, all the food she ate after that came up with it. Don' t worry. Just try to give her food that is not too dry. Make sure the khichdi is semi solid. Offer her a few sips of water between 4 - 5 bites of food. Some children can' t keep food down at all. No solids at all. This condition is treated with a medicine called Toyodom. But, it doesn' t sound as if your daughter is suffering from that. Check with your ped if she has GER. In GER the membrane which keeps food down in the food pipe doesn' t develop properly in some infants till the age of 2 - 3. So, regurgitated food often comes back up. Since your daughter throws up once in 3 - 4 days, I doubt this is the case, but get a good doc to check her up.
