Hi,
I used to breastfeed my 7 month old child but 1-1/2 month before i started giving her enfamil just once in the morning 2 oz.It didnt suit her and now since past 5 days i am giving her nestle' s good start supreme(once morning and once evening-2 oz each). She is also on a solid diet(2 times a day). Now my prob is last since last 2 days she poops a li' l bit at/after every feeding(solids, milk). Also her motions are tight sometimes and bit sticky or loose sometimes.it changes color as well. She has developed lil rashes at bottom since today morning.I can' t understand where i might have gone wrong. Is it that i changed formula and it' s not suiting her?Is it that i m feeding(solids) to her that she is not able to digest OR is she overeating her age ? God knows where i m wrong. But pls smbdy pls guide me.

Dear Pallavi,

My son used to paas motion after every feed when he was 5 month old.Even me & his paediatrician took it lightly but all off a sudden he had severe diarrhea and I had to continue feeding him with his old formula milk coz he was too young to digest any solid food. After 2 diarrhoeal episodes which were treated with antibiotics, hhis diarrhea became so severe that he had to b admitted in a hospital due to excessive dehydration. He is now 9.5 month old bt nt able to digest Lactogen/whole milk.I am still feeding him with Lactose free soya formula coz frequent diarrhea or chronic diarrhea leads to Lactose Intolrance in infants.I dnt want to scare you bt I m sharing my exp with you coz I dnt want any other baby to suffer like mine.He spent 21 days in hospital.Hes doing well now coz I have taken him to a homeopathy Dr and giving him Lactose free formula.Pls discuss this with his Dr. immediately coz My son also used to paas hard motions after every feed bt gradually it lead to Diarrhoea.

Pls take an appointment with his Dr asap.God blees ur baby

Yeah..rashes are due to acidic poop.It also indicates that his stomach is upset. My son also suffers from very bad rashes in fact sumtimes rashes develop on his front side ,ie,his penis and inner thighs. My Dr has advised me to apply Candid & Derma shield alternatively actually Candid is basically contains steroid which makes skin very Dry & derma shield contains Aloe Vera which soothes it and Sonia only told me to apply lot of powder on his bottom so that it doesn’t get clean and Coconut Oil/ Ghee didn’t do anything in his case

.TC,
Monica

Hi..babies do pass hard stools when start with solids...just make sure to give him more water...if possible give lil warm water in the morning....instead of trying all these things don ot expect that poops will be normal...ther will be lil hard...for the bottom apply any cream (I used Foredum..u can ask to ur doctor) but the main thing is that after applying cream just put lots of powder..this is one thing someone told me and it helped a lot for my son cz without the powder the cream gets clean with cloth and then it is not affected...u can apply coconut cream also...
Hope it will help lil bit

RE:Baby cries while passing urine - Hetal pls advice
At the same time the child is feeling some pain So try to understand and consult a doctor.... - sharmasanvi [View Message]
RE:bowel movement in 2 week old infant
Some babies go through phases when they either can't use the muscles to empty their bowels or they "forget how to". In that case, it's safest keep using the suppositories daily to make them do a dirty in 5 minutes.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:where can I get laxative?
You can get either glycerin or bisacodyl suppositories in any Indian pharmacy - I recommend saving money by not buying child-size ones, instead cutting adult supps in half to make a child-size dosage.
(I have a daughter with long-term bowel issues: she can't "do" without them!)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:constipation
When the baby is in discomfort from constipation (especially if she hasn't done some dirty for two days or more), the first thing you should give is a glycerin suppository.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:hi
Most doctors say banana doesn't help - the potassium in it makes constipation worse. Remember you can make your own prune puree in a blender. Grape, grapefruit and papaya are also laxative fruits. And remember you can safely use baby suppositories as often as you need to (they also help with "training" the baby to do a dirty at the same time every day)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:Baby Movements/Development
Consult a good doctor immediately as this should not be ignored as it will cause a big issue if you let it go now, please seek doctors advice on immediate basis.... - Aditi [View Message]
RE:Baby Movements/Development
Hi there please be calm and relax as it happens sometime the child takes little time to start walking or crawling also but in your case the child should have started crawling if not walking.... - Anita [View Message]
