hi,
I am sorry for posting this message in wrong board. but, this is most active board, and i need your suggestion. My son is 1 year, 4 months. i am thinking to get him a high-chair. but, i am a bit anxious about how long it will be useful. if it is not going to be used for a long time, it will be wastage of money. anyone can guide me about the right age for high chair? and, what are the features to look for?
thanks.

Hi Hema,

I did not buy any high chair..I think you can live without that and your kid is more than a year now. I really doubt he will sit on the chair and eat. This age kids are so hyper..isn' t it.
Just my thought.

Subject:  Convertible High Chairs

Hi Hema,
My son started using the high chair at around age 6 months. But, by around 9-10 months, he became too wriggly to remain seated in it.
We anticipated this, so when we bought the highchair, we got a convertible one from Mothercare. It' s made of wood, and has a detachable table. Once the child no longer uses it as a high chair, the chair can be pulled out, and it converts into a really nice, sturdy toddler table and chair. My son used it less as a high chair, but loves it as a little study table. It cost around Rs. 4000, and can be used until age 3.

u can check the features and suitability of all the high chairs available in the market and then decide which one you want. personally i feel it should come with a safety belt, variable height and a removable tray so that the child can join you on the dining table as well. every kid is different. some like high chairs for a long time, some don' t. my son started usuing it when he was around 9 months and stopped using it at the age of 18 months.
