Bowel and Bladder Movements:Red bottom

Hi All, my son is 17 months old. He used to have constipation a few months back but now he is passing stools normally. The problem was that the anal area used to get red. Doctor told us that it was contact dermatitis and gave a steroid cream. It went away with the use but nowadays he is passing stools 3-4 times a day (after a viral infection) passing all the mucus in the stool and now too he is having the dermatitis near the anal area although stools are very soft. I dont want to go for a steroid cream again. I have tried applying coconut oil on the area but to no avail. Plz suggest what could be done about it

Hi, my doc has suggested a new alternative for reducing the redness of the anal area. We need to dip our baby in a tub full of luke warm water for 5 minutes(3 times a day). Please put some amount of eating soda into this water. This helps in reducing the redness.
Also try applying ghee instead of coconut oil.

Hi sonia,

My 5 month old son also suffers from viral diarrhea frequently & he passes acidic ,mucusy stools which maked his anal area red & it burns so much that he doesnt even let me touch & clean.I have also tried coconut oil bt its of no use.His dr was saying that infection spreads thru water mainly .She suggested me to clean his anal area with a cotton ball dipped in coconut oil instead of water & for 1 day while rashes were severe she precibed any steriod cream like flucream/KZ bt after 1 day in mild rashes case she precribed dermashiled.
Please let me know if you find sum other alternative & i have posted a query regarding viral infection in this forum recently so pls advise me on that also.
thanks,
Monica

RE:Baby cries while passing urine - Hetal pls advice
At the same time the child is feeling some pain So try to understand and consult a doctor.... - sharmasanvi [View Message]
RE:bowel movement in 2 week old infant
Some babies go through phases when they either can't use the muscles to empty their bowels or they "forget how to". In that case, it's safest keep using the suppositories daily to make them do a dirty in 5 minutes.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:where can I get laxative?
You can get either glycerin or bisacodyl suppositories in any Indian pharmacy - I recommend saving money by not buying child-size ones, instead cutting adult supps in half to make a child-size dosage.
(I have a daughter with long-term bowel issues: she can't "do" without them!)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:constipation
When the baby is in discomfort from constipation (especially if she hasn't done some dirty for two days or more), the first thing you should give is a glycerin suppository.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:hi
Most doctors say banana doesn't help - the potassium in it makes constipation worse. Remember you can make your own prune puree in a blender. Grape, grapefruit and papaya are also laxative fruits. And remember you can safely use baby suppositories as often as you need to (they also help with "training" the baby to do a dirty at the same time every day)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:Baby Movements/Development
Consult a good doctor immediately as this should not be ignored as it will cause a big issue if you let it go now, please seek doctors advice on immediate basis.... - Aditi [View Message]

Hi there please be calm and relax as it happens sometime the child takes little time to start walking or crawling also but in your case the child should have started crawling if not walking.... - Anita [View Message]
