I am new to this board and i asked query regarding ghee, jaggery and other stuff in other thread. I got a ref. of this message id as answer and i just verified that msg. i thought you can help me more if i will ask you my query directly.
I am very much intereseted for my baby having indian food habbits. but i don' t want to follow anything blindly just because its happening for years. i did my own research and found out ghee is not so easy to digest. i know its a very healthy food and i would love to give it to my baby but only when she will able to digest! i strongly belive that baby' s digestion power is quite different than ours and we should not hammer it with all the stuff from the beginning. Again i believe fat is not only content which is required for health rather other contensts like vitamins, calcium, carbs, minerals are equally important or may be more at this age. my baby is 6 months and i started with solid, introducing new food at every 2-3 days. i started with rice cereal, rice + moong dal, then veggi and now fruit. i am planning to add salt (not very sure as i belive salt is also not required but i may have to start..) by 7 - 7 1/2 month and then ghee and other fatty stuff. but again i don' t want her to have suji halwa or wheat halwa as her daily food. adding ghee to khichadi or dal rice is okay but to have ghee, have halwa every day is not cup of my tea. i think that much sugar, eventhough in any form like jaggery, is not good for anyone. even for babies. and i don' t think they need it everyday.

Do you think i am very rigid in my thoughts. I would appreciate your straight forward answer. Basically i want some scientific information than just traditional belief. I am not at all in oppose of any of our tradition. i love my indian culture but i cann' t follow it just becuase its happening for years and esp. when i can see its adverse effect in my own family. So pl. let me know your thoughts/information/knowledge or source of it. I am really grateful to you for reading such a long query. thanks a bunch.
