8am one bowl milk
and 8.30am one banannana
9am she went to play school with her lunch box.at 11am she finish her lunch that is one chapati with little vegetable
then after coming home 12 noon she eat one chapati with honey.then she sleeps till 4 pam and at 4.330 one bowl of curd
6pm one 120ml real fruit juice and then one bananna and in dinner 9pm she again eat one chapati with veg or honey or jam. some time in her tiffin she eat tomato rice or brown bread.

kindly guide me if she should eat more or something else so that she can put on some weight.
she is also having parumbical hernia but doctor says that that is not the reason for not putting weight.

Subject:  2 yr old diet.

At this age you girl should have 3 main meals. (breakfast lunch and dinner) and 2 snaks in the whole day.

Our doc suggested something like this

My son takes milk early morning at around 6.30 am,

then for bk fast (at arounr 7 am) he has 2 toast with a bowl of tomato soup or any other soup OR 1 bowl of suji (sheera) kheel, 2 dinner spoon of suji with 6 oz of milk.

at 9 snacks, say fruit juice and biscuits so similar, may be fruits , I mean mixed fruits apple, banana , curd etc.

Then lunch at 11.30 : rice/ roti, daal & fish or chicken with butter etc (heavy meal)

then 3.30 snacks boiled apple, or banana milk shake, curd etc etc.

5 pm milk

8pm dinner heavy meal, rice / roti fish / chicken, sabji, curd etc etc

by 9 pm into bed
wake up at 6.30

My son is eytremely fussy eater, he cant chew.... so we are trying to follow this routine...this is the one suggested by our doc.

Add some extra ghee or butter in her chapatis. Banana Milkshake is good to increase weight, if she will have it. Add some more milk/dairy product to the diet like Nandy suggested. My son is two and quite underweight. But the Dr said theres nothing to worry if the weight is increasing gradually because a lot depends on the genes also (both me and my husband were underweight as a child).

Dear Kamal
You are very welcome....
Vegetable strips :---i usually cut 2 inch long thin strips of carrots, capsicums, cucumber, tomato and any other vegetable you can think of.(you might want to steam green beans & carrots for 5-7 mins before offering them). They basically look like thick matchsticks.you can serve them with dahi so she can dip veggies in dahi and eat.

crackers are basically biscuits (parle G, Marie etc.)Try to look for a brand which might say whole grains on the packet.

hope this helps.

HI Kamal
This is what my son the same age as your daughter daily eating schedule is like:

breakfast: cereal w/milk or eggs & toast w/milk and fruit

snack: whole grain crackers or vegetable strips (capsicum, carrots etc)

lunch:rice/roti w/dal and veg.sometimes we have chicken or paneer as well

snack:fruit yoghurt and crackers

dinner : almost same as lunch.

in your schedule i noticed a deficiency in dairy & protein(dals, paneer, chicken etc)
An increase in these food groups might help.

hope this is useful
