Vegetarian Food:how to make ghee ?
2006-01-13
Name: CA

Hi all,

I wanted to know how we can make ghee from the milk that we get in US ? We usually buy 2% fat milk- can I make ghee from that or do I need to buy full fat milk? And what is the procedure ? has anyone tried it ? If yes, then how does it come out?

Please, share your views.

Thanks in advance.

Hello CA
Normally after u boil milk let it cool down and keep the milk in the fridge, so that a thick creamy layer forms.collect this layer daily into a seperate bowl and once fortnightly you can blend this cream in the mixer to get butter.just heat this butter in a thick bottomed pan until it forms ghee.this is a natural way of preparing ghee...do try .good luck

i tried from milk also but never got success.

Hi Neha,

Thanks a lot for your response.

Can you tell me the name of the unsalted butter that you use ? And how much quantity do you take ? And do we need to stir the butter continuously when it is on the flame or can we just leave it?

Will definitely try it out.

Thanks again.
