Hi,
My baby is 2.5 months old, she has been suffering from loose motions since 5 days. The stool is loose and contains round granules, it is not pure yellowish in color.Doctor prescribed Rebalanz(like electrol), then Lactase powder and a tablet Andial.
Still the motions are persistent, we are very much worried. Is this common to have loose motions for 4 to 5 days in babies. Which is the perfect remedy for this to see my baby normal. Please help.

Hi,
Many babies are prone to loosemotions at the age of 3-5 months.so there is no need to worry but should check that the baby is not dehydrated,so should be substituted by something like pedialyte, breast milk etc
you said you have found some small lumps, our doctor said this is common for the babies who are normally fed by formula.so do not worry of that.
My sincere advise is You check with your doctor before using pedialyte though my doctor it is good for babies.

Hi,
Even my son had loose motion for 3 months exactly as you said.
We conducted all possible stool tests and what not, but could not identify the problem.
Finally when I stopped taking iron tablets, his motion became normal(I was breastfeeding him). I stopped the tablets for a few days and when I started iron tablets again, his loose motion started again. So I totally stopped iron tablets and started taking palak regularly. Sometimes babies cannot digest the extra vitamins that mothers take.
It is very much normal to have loose motions in babies. As long as your baby is gaining weight and is active, you have nothing to worry(except changing nappies so many times!!!)
Regards,
Usha.

At the same time the child is feeling some pain So try to understand and consult a doctor.... - sharmasanvi [View Message]
RE:bowel movement in 2 week old infant
Some babies go through phases when they either can't use the muscles to empty their bowels or they "forget how to". In that case, it's safest keep using the suppositories daily to make them do a dirty in 5 minutes.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:where can I get laxative?
You can get either glycerin or bisacodyl suppositories in any Indian pharmacy - I recommend saving money by not buying child-size ones, instead cutting adult supps in half to make a child-size dosage.
(I have a daughter with long-term bowel issues: she can't "do" without them!)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:constipation
When the baby is in discomfort from constipation (especially if she hasn't done some dirty for two days or more), the first thing you should give is a glycerin suppository.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:hi
Most doctors say banana doesn't help - the potassium in it makes constipation worse. Remember you can make your own prune puree in a blender. Grape, grapefruit and papaya are also laxative fruits. And remember you can safely use baby suppositories as often as you need to (they also help with "training" the baby to do a dirty at the same time every day)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:Baby Movements/Development
Consult a good doctor immediately as this should not be ignored as it will cause a big issue if you let it go now, please seek doctors advice on immediate basis.... - Aditi [View Message]

Hi there please be calm and relax as it happens sometime the child takes little time to start walking or crawling also but in your case the child should have started crawling if not walking.... - Anita [View Message]
