hi

i gave walker to my son when he was 7 months old. I donot think there is any harm in giving the walker. the only reason the doctors say no to walkers is because firstly babies fall a lot from the walker and secondly some parents tend to overdo giving the walker to the baby hence making the baby uncomfortable later on.

Personally i feel that the walkers with a round base (the old kind of walkers) tend to turn over more than the ones with rectangular base. I have used one with a rectangular base and with stoppers. Its been a great help, since i have been able to do my work and my son moves around safely(ofcourse under my supervision).

As far as crawling is concerned,,,its not a major milestone. Some kids they donot crawl at all but start walking straitaway.

take care

hi,
its fine to put him in walker provided you are always besides him.generally i have read and experienced too that babies fall from walkers and many have been badly hurt when they fall.many a times the fall is such that the baby fontanalle in the front part of the head which is very sensitive is hurt and has caused brain damage. The fontanalle closes only when the infant is 9 mpnths completed.
i have also read that rather than walkers you catch his hands and make him walk.it is is said that babies master the art of walking in this fashion.the leg muscles get stronger.
i suggest you dont use walker(my opinion).
bye
