Q: My wife is pregnant and is in her last trimester. She has been suffering from morning sickness and has been vomiting from her first trimester. This vomiting has increased. Also, she has been taking DOXYLA B6 (DOXALAMINE SUCCINATE WITH VIT B6) everyday. Why does she vomit? Is this normal? Until when does it continue? What is the remedy? Does she have to take doxyla b6 continuously? Ganesh (Mumbai, India) |
A: Vomiting is natural in the first three months of pregnancy due to excess of hormones. She can take doxyl for up to three months or so |
Q: My wife is in the 7th week of pregnancy. She vomits a lot, from morning to evening. She feels better at night, but does not have any craving. Will this lead to under-nourishment? What should she do? How can I help? I am worried about her. Pruthu (Panvel, India) |
A: Morning/daytime sickness is normal in pregnancy. She should eat whatever she wants, whenever she wants and how much ever she wants. (This concession is for 3 months only). If she does not eat, saline or glucose will have to be given intravenously. Everybody does not experience cravings. As long as she is eating regularly, it is fine. |
