 Frequently Asked Questions

Q: My sisters daughter rubs her eyes a lot. The doctor says her eyes are fine. We also wipe them with a wet cotton piece but she persists. What could be the problem?

Sheetal (Mangalore, India)

A: Does she have any discharge form the eye? If yes, then consult an eye specialist. Perhaps it is more of a habit for her. Try to distract her everytime she does it.

Q: My daughter is 3 yrs old. She keeps rubbing her eyes. Could anything be wrong with her eyes? When she was a year old, she suffered from viral conjunctivitis. Is there any diet to improve vision?

Mehek (Calcutta, India)

A: You have not mentioned anything about her vision, so I presume it is OK. I am not sure whether she has got any allergies. If you have anyone in your family with asthma, eczema etc., then she might have it as well. However, I don't think there is any need to get anxious. If you are worried, see an eye specialist. There is no diet which improves vision. Vitamin A is good, so she can have carrots. You won't see a difference unless she has a Vit A deficiency.
