i am in my 30th week of pregnancy and have had type 1 diabetes for 10 years. being diabetic for so long and now being pregnant is very hard.my best advice to anyone is to get the proper care and try to have a good support system.i take about 5 injections of insulin a day but sugar can still very so to those of you that are mildly affected you should comforted and lucky! best wishes to all

i was found with gestational diabetes when i was 13 weeks. now i am 28 weeks and it is very well controlled on diet and insulin twice a day. the diet for it is something, vary person to person depending upon the type of food you eat. the best way to control it is to avoid all refined carbohydrates including all kind of sweets and fried stuff. eat lot of fruits (not much mangoes and pineapple)and vegies and include lot of fresh salad in your meal to stuff yourself rather than lot of carbohydrates at a time. spread your lunch and dinner over 2 meal times. execrcise can bring the blood sugar down. walking is the best excercise i found. 1 hrs walk (not too slow) divided in two half an hrs session is ideal. start with 10 mins if you haven't been doing it before. see the dietition for a personal diet plan. all the very best.
