A BACKGROUNDER ON INDIAPARENTING

Launched in May 1999, IndiaParenting was one of the early movers on India's Internet scene. With over 5,000 pages of information, the aim of the website was to be the most comprehensive online guide for parents (both fathers and mothers). The site has now expanded beyond content. It has added lot of interactive elements & offers unique e-commerce option. The site today hosts largest community of Indian parents and children from around the globe.

In the past, we have worked with high profile companies such as Citibank, ICICI, IL&FS, Kodak, Johnson & Johnson, Scholastic, Rasna, Marico, Navneet, Hindustan Lever Limited, SmithKline Beecham etc.

Content:
The site is a veritable storehouse of information related to all aspects of parenting. There are over 24 channels that offer depth of information addressing issues ranging from conceiving a baby, singing rhymes to solving problems related to a teenager. It offers complete guidelines on raising children, making them aware of the rich cultural heritage and traditions of India. Parents get a chance to familiarize children with Indian prayers of different religions, Indian epics, stories of great Indian leaders etc. Interactive tools such as due date calculator, to choosing a lucky name for your baby, add to the overall parenting experience. A resource guide (currently only for Mumbai) helps parents find the right resources like schools etc. for their children.

Communities:
Besides information, the site also fosters community interaction through its wide range of discussion boards. For example, discussion boards based on due date of delivery help expecting parents interact with other couples also expecting babies in the same month.

E-commerce:
No parenting experience is complete without the little goodies that go with it. The on-line shop on IndiaParenting allows parents to select from a wide range of products, including books, toys, clothes, games, music, CDs, software and whole lot more interesting things related to parenting.

Kid Centric Zone - the child's first Internet experience
We have recently launched a new section within IndiaParenting, aimed specifically at young kids (between the age group of 1-8 years). The idea emerged when we discovered that a lot of young parents entrusted their children to our site for an Internet experience. This section currently has 6 channels on learning, fun activities, stories, rhymes, party time and e-cards. It will soon be growing with lots more interactive games and tools that make learning fun.
