Top 10 Ways to Be a Better Mom

Nobody can do what moms do for their children. Every mom puts her best while raising her children. But if all moms follow certain positive parenting tips they can do much better. Here are top 10 ways for good moms to be better moms.

Being a mother is perhaps one of the most important roles you will ever play in your life. Here are top ten tips which will help you become a better and more responsible mother.
  1. Get Up Early

The best way to complete your work for the day on time and be ready to face the daily parenting challenges is to ensure that you get enough time. Waking up early in the morning well before your children rise is always a good idea. You would have showered, planned your schedule for the day, packed your kids lunches and refreshed yourself with your favourite cup of coffee. And then you can also spend some time with your kids before they leave for school.

  2. Stay Fit

Being a mother is a physically and emotionally demanding role so you have to ensure that you are up to the challenge. Remain fit and active by exercising daily in the morning. Even doing spot jogging or some free hand exercises would help as this will give you an instant burst of energy which will allow you to face the day with vigour. If you want to participate actively in your kid’s lives then staying fit is not an option, it is a necessity.

  3. Be Punctual

Though it is only human to be late as a good mother you should ensure that you are punctual most of the times. Your children are going to learn from you so make sure that you set a good example by maintaining a schedule and then sticking to it religiously. Make a habit of dividing tasks into time bound activities as this will boost your punctuality.

  4. Do not Stress Yourself

Children do have the habit of creating stressful situations at times but this is something that you have to be mentally prepared for. The moment you show your stress in an obvious way in front of your kids you are actually creating a stressful atmosphere for them too. Make sure that you have your own stress management strategy like taking a deep breaths or doing yoga.

  5. Be Spontaneous

Though mothers generally have to follow schedules strictly to keep the show running; a bit of spontaneity can sometimes be very necessary. Remember that childhood is one of the most spontaneous and beautiful phases and this is a golden opportunity for you to taste childhood again. So do build sand castles and go play hide and seek with your kids sometimes.

  6. Demonstrate Affection

Be generous with hugs, cuddles and kisses as children want to feel loved and petted. As a good mother you need to know what forms of affection your children are most comfortable with and then be generous with the dose. Demonstration of physical affection cements the bond between a mother and child.

  7. Electronically Unplug at Dinner

Dinner time is the only proper meal time you get to share with your children if you are a working mother. So make sure that your phone, tablet, laptop etc is off during dinner. This is the time you should totally and devotedly dedicate to your kids without any external disturbances interrupting and disturbing your family time together. If required communicate to all concerned parties that you will be unavailable for that certain period of time.

  8. Do Self Assessment

As a mother you have to constantly re-invent and improve yourself with time. There will be many times when you fail or are disappointed in your own performance as a mom but the important thing is to asses and learn from the mistakes of yesterday. If required make small notes in your diary about all that you learn during the lovely journey of motherhood.

  9. Do Not Over Indulge

Becoming a mother means that you are now responsible for the character building process of your children. Never over indulge or pamper your kids too much as this will only weaken their character. Praise them when required and also have fun with them but also know when to draw the line and discipline. A good mother is always a loving disciplinarian.

  10. Enjoy Motherhood

The more you enjoy the lovely phase of motherhood and the amazing feelings and experiences associated with it, the better equipped you will be to improve as a mother. Open your senses and heart to the everyday charming activities of your children and allow yourself to get caught up in the magic of the mother-child relationship.
Sometimes all you have got to do is to go with the flow.
