Let us understand the parenting myths which can harm your child.

1. Be an idealistic parent and shape my child’s personality

The first myth is to be an idealistic parent and be all in your child’s life. Always you should remember that your child is totally a separate entity. It is impossible to plan your child’s life without his or her involvement. A child will always have his or her own view points. As a parent you can never rub your opinions on your child. This is a myth with obsessive mind which can harm your child. Being too overprotective can hamper your child’s development.

2. I only should know my child and my child should be close only with me

As a parent do not plan to rule over your child’s life. It just cannot happen. Life is not to dedicate to any one single person. It is to live for every purpose and happily till your last breathe. Children should be taught to remain independent and they need to be guided as and when required. Knowing your child is important but it is a myth if you want your child to be close only with you. It is a myth which can harm your child’s confidence and self-esteem.

3. I should give the best to my child

Giving best to your child is important. But let us not be always with the same thought and indulge too much in the child’s life. This is disturbing your child and also a pain to the child. It is a myth of a pride which can put your child to stress and agony because your child will always expect and will be longing for the best things in the world.
It will make them dependent and they will not value everything that they get on demand. If in future they do not get the best, they can become more stubborn and aggressive.

4. Should satisfy all your kids needs

Kids can sometimes be unreasonable. So, there is no need to say that all the dreams of a child have to be fulfilled.
