Signs that a Child is Emotionally Abused

Signs that a Child is Emotionally Abused
Emotional abuse in children can lead to behavioural issues and developmental problems in them. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the signs of emotional abuse and help children overcome it before it is too late. Have a quick look at the signs that a child is emotionally abused.

Neglecting a child itself is a form of abuse apart from being a punishable offence. Often the abusers escape law as there are no physical symptoms of being abused emotionally and the victims keep quiet and tolerate all the pains that are given to them. Here are 10 such signs discussed that show that a child is emotionally abused.

Withdrawal from Usual Activities

When a child withdraws himself from his friends and always be in his own room alone then it is a sign that she may have been abused emotionally. So she cannot trust anyone anymore and loves to be alone always.

Depression and Anxiety

Kids when they attain the teenage are susceptible to various mood changes. So it becomes very difficult sometimes to detect whether the change in their behaviour is normal at the age or it is because of the emotional abuse that a child has gone through. If a kid remains depressed always for a prolonged period of time then it means she has been emotionally abused.

Tries to Attempt Suicide

If a kid has made several attempts to commit suicide them it is a sure sign of being emotionally abused and mentally tortured.

Loss of Self Esteem

A child who is emotionally tortured loses faith in his own self. His self confidence goes down to zero. A loss of self esteem takes him nowhere and she is left behind being a loser. This leads to more frustration and the kids suffer.

Health Issues

A child who is emotionally abused can develop health issues too frequently. She may suffer from chronic headaches or stomach aches without any medical cause.

Attention Seeking Behaviours

When a child does something to seek attention desperately then she might be suffering from emotional abuse at home or at his school or at any other place.

Slow Development

If a child does not show any signs of development or does not acquire the required skills that other normal kids of his age would acquire then it is a clear sign of the child being physically abused.

Runaway Attempts

If the child has grown a tendency to run away from home then she is certainly having some problems. She must be mentally tortured and so she wants to run away from home and live alone.

Often Telling Lies

Kids lie because they are afraid of the consequences of actions. If this tendency in a kid is for a prolonged period of time without any solid reason whatsoever, then be prepared to take your kids to the doctor because she is suffering from mental abuse which can take a fatal shape if not diagnosed and treated properly at the right time.

Aggression

If your child shows aggression in simplest of things then she is mentally not well. It is a sign of emotional abuse that a child may be facing at some place which you may not gauge. Take him to a doctor and she will help you find out the cause of such an abnormal behaviour of your kid.

Sudden Fall in School Grades

When a child who brings good grades in school suddenly begins to get poor marks without any reason or if your child suddenly shows reluctance to go to school then it might be because she is afraid of someone or something that is causing him all the pains. She might be emotionally abused by someone who she once loved and respected.
When your child is showing up such signs of an emotional abuse always take the initiatives to bring him back to his normal happy life. Give him all the love and affection that she needs at this tender age to become normal.
