improve brain function of kids
Carrying out activities that help to improve the brain function during early years can aid brain development of kids to a greater extent. To find more about the activities that help to improve brain function of kids, read on.

Child researchers say that 90% of the brain development takes place by 5 years of age which is why it is important for parents to start brain boosting exercises really early. There is definite evidence that points towards the efficacy of the following activities in boosting the power of the brain.

Aerobics for the Brain

One of the best ways to boost brain power is to keep accumulating new things in the brain. The old adage of “learn a new thing every day” is perfectly true. However, this does not mean that you should force your children to tackle difficult sums or do really tough academic stuff. Even travelling to new places, accumulating knowledge about foreign places and cultures, learning a new skill or cultivating a new hobby can also be an opportunity to exercise the brain.
The above activities can boost the brain and improve the function of the memory without creating extra pressure on the brain. Expose your child to new kind of experiences and activities (especially those which he or she enjoys) and stimulate the power of the brain.

Music

There are countless articles and research papers that vouch for the efficacy of playing music for children or getting them to learn musical compositions. In fact listening to soulful classical music right from the time of pregnancy can help in the better brain development of the foetus in the same way as reading.
Music here means instrumental music or classical compositions by Mozart. Beethoven etc. it has been scientifically established that listening to symphonies can stimulate the neural ends triggering them to make faster connections. Get your child early exposure to the beautiful world of music and reap rich returns in the future.

Organise Game Evenings

Family game evenings can be great fun and present a healthy happy way for boosting the brain power of your kids. Games like Chinese checkers and chess boost the power of forming strategies and thinking ahead.
Card games like Fish, Hearts and Speed teach kids how to solve problems, plan and cooperate with each other. Intelligent Board games like Monopoly teach tolerance and boost the power of coordination and concentration. A great bonus of family game evenings is that everybody gets to spend quality time together and family bonds are strengthened.

Concentration Enhancement

One of the most critical measures of brain power is the power to concentrate. Activities that improve the power of memory and concentration should be an integral part of the regimen that you set for your child. For very small children you can start off with basic exercises.
Line up some of their toys in a straight line and allow them to take a good look before you cover them up. Now take one toy away and take off the cover asking your kids to guess which toy has been taken away. For older children you can swiftly put random objects in front of them for 10 seconds and then remove them before asking them to remember the object description.

Exercise

The importance of exercise for boosting overall health of kids cannot be overstressed. There are many ways how exercise can help your kid and boosting brain power is one of them. It has been scientifically established that exercise stimulates the flow of beneficial hormones in the body, improves endurance and concentration and enhances the intelligence level. A fitter body is essentially linked with a fitter mind. Include half an hour of exercise in your child’s routine and help your kid enjoy a smarter and fitter life.
Now that you know about these interesting activities to improve brain function of kids, do make sure that you try them out at the earliest opportunity.
