Toothache is one of the common health problems in children which can be treated with home remedies. Read on to find simple home remedies that can help to treat toothache in them.
Toothache is a very common problem in preschoolers. However, the reasons for toothache differ; sometimes the pain may be due to cavity which is most common in children, other reasons are infections, cracking of a tooth, gum disease etc. Here in this article some of the remedies for toothache are discussed which you may try at home to relieve toothache of your child.

Salt and Pepper

Both salt and pepper are known for their anti bacterial, analgesic and anti inflammatory properties. Make a thick paste out of salt and pepper and apply it on the teeth and gums and let it settle down for a few minutes. Try this for a week and you will get positive results.

Cloves

Cloves have great anti microbial properties that fight germs and keep your gums and teeth healthy. Give your kid 2 – 3 cloves to chew or else dab cotton ball in clove oil and apply on the affected area to get rid of gum and toothaches.

Garlic

Garlic has medicinal properties that acts as antibiotics and help alleviate pain due to toothaches and gum problems.

Luke Warm Salt Water

A lukewarm salt solution can do tricks if you want to get an immediate result. Just add common salt sprinkles in lukewarm water and stir it. Then ask your child to wash her mouth thoroughly to get an immediate result.

Onion

Chewing raw onions can do wonders to pain. It has antibacterial properties that kill the infection causing germs in your child’s mouth.

Asafoetida

Gum problems and toothache can be cured with this medicinal product. Warm a solution of powdered asafoetida with one spoonful of lemon juice. Apply the solution with a cotton ball to the affected area of your kid’s mouth. It will give her instant relief.

Guava Leaves

Boil some tender leaves of guava in water and then strain the liquid and ask your child to wash her mouth with it. It acts as a rapid pain killer which has no side effects.

Vanilla Extracts

This is yet another most effective home remedy in treating toothaches. It numbs the aches and the essence also is liked by kids.

Cold Potato or Cucumber

When your kid complains of toothache make small slices of potato or cucumber and place it inside the refrigerator and allow it to cool for some time. The cold soothes the pain in the gums and teeth and brings back the smile on your kid’s face.

Mint Leaf

Placing dried leaves of mint around the bad tooth helps relieves pain due to toothache and gum problems. Ask your kid to extract the juice out of the mint leaves and then spit it out.

Brush Gently

Sometimes the pain is due to some food particles that have been wedged in between the teeth of your kids. In this case gently brush your kid’s teeth to bring out the food particles slowly. This will relieve your kids of the pain in his teeth.
Rinse your kid’s mouth with a few drops of the tea tree oil or you may add a few drops of the oil to a glass of lukewarm water and apply it on the affected area to get instant relief.

Apple Cedar Vinegar

Dab a cotton ball in the apple cedar vinegar and apply it on the bad tooth to get relief from the toothaches. You can also use household vinegar that you use regularly.

Lime

Slice a small piece of lime and ask your kid to bite it and extract some juice from it. But it is sometimes not possible to convince kids to bite lime because of the sour taste. In this case make a solution of lukewarm water and the fresh lime juice and dab a cotton ball in it and apply on the affected area.
Try these home remedies for treating toothache and you will definitely get positive results. In case if your child is allergic to any of the ingredients mentioned above avoid them. Make sure that you encourage your children to follow right oral hygiene so that problem of toothache never arises in future.
