Again in the evening he sleeps from 8 to 11.Then he is fresh & doeant sleep till 4 in the morning.

I tried to change his sleep time in the day but he gets cranky & dozes off even if he is sitting.PLease help i dont know what to do.I am an working mom & this is taking a toll on me.Also i dont have nayone to help me at home

I tried sending him to playschool from 9-12 in the morning, he was awake for a week or so in the mornings , but later has started goin to sleep.
Any idea/Suggestions on what can be done?
Thanks in advance,
Ravz

Dear Ravina,
At 14 months, your toddler should be ideally sleeping through the night.

Tactics:
On a weekend, take him outside like shopping or general mall browsing with all his eating things packed. Be out the whole evening (say 4 pm through till 8 pm) and always show him something nice so that he does not sleep.Make him walk most of times. Then try putting him to bed at 9 or 10 pm. This way he may sleep through the night.
if this helps then take him out again the next day to reinforce the schedule.
Make sure you are carrying wipes etc to wash his hands when you are outside so that he does eat anything with dirty hands or after touching mall surfaces.

Start sending him to the day school again, even if he sleeps. A week or two may be tough but try.

You will eventually have to get over his routine. There is nothing impossible. You have to have enough sleep during the night for your health too. Remember if you are healthy then only you will be able to look after your child properly.

hi ravina,

This is really very difficult ultimately you don' t get to sleep. I think you should totally change his timings. Because a 14month old toddler should have a good sleep through out the night.

When he gets up at 7 in the morning. Give him milk, breakfast a little later and around 10.30 when he goes back to sleep either give him some of the favorite toy and sit with him a play to distract from his sleep or better take him outside to some friends place or any play area. Don' t allow him to sleep until after his lunch is over. He can go to sleep around 12.30 or 1 pm till 3.30 pm. That is more than enough. try to wake him if he is not getting up himself. Naturally after that afternoon sleep he will play nicely give him milk and some fruits and let him play till 7.30 and then dinner and put him to sleep by 8.30 - 9 pm. He will not get up till morning. This is the routine i follow for my daughter. Make this pratice for 2days then it will really become a routine. All the best.
