hi ! my son is only 21 pounds at 17 mnths. im so worried. he doesnt drink milk at all. we r vegetarians so that doesn' t help either in weight gain. also a big problem is that he poops around 5-6 times a day. we have our general daal, rice, roti, veggies meal - nothing that should induce so many poops but i am so worried. has anyone faced a similar problem. i will be going to the doctor but then am worried it too much is calculated out of this. any clues please ! any help !!

Hi
I agree with Neelima. You need to give your child more fat content. As neelima rightly said give paneer, cheese, tofu, ghee in all his food. Also fruits like mangoes, avocadoes are great Source of calories.
I' m sure if you just start with these items you should see a difference.

Good luck

hi sonia,
bythe menu you have wrote its very obvious that you are giving him a high fibre diet whcih automatically means he will poo more.below 2 years of age ..toddlers require fat to groww and not fibre.
if he is not having milk , try other soiurces of fat like cheese, curd, tofu etc which will give lots of calories.
melt butter on idli, dosa...put a good amount of ghee in the food.
ask your doctor can you give PEDIASURE daily once.
sonia give him fat..fat ..fat.(other foods are also impiortant but in moderate..

hey ! thanks for the tips but ya ! i give him khichdi with lauki, other veggies then roti mixed with daal. i don´ t think these r high fibre foods. for breakfast we have gerber fruits mixed with milk and cereal. so..... i am not sure - i don´ t think this is high fibre diet. i do add ghee - may be that´ s making him go so many times. i am just confused. this is my 2nd baby and the same food routine was for the 1st one but this time he´ s really pooping a lot.i just wanted to know if anyone else has faced this same problem - is it allergy or something ! anyways, thanks for your input. really nice of u !
