Hi,
My son is 18 mths old .Still he hasn't started talking. He says few wrds like mama, thatha, horse and he babbles a lot.Is it something to worry abt.Becoz he is getting lot of ear infections but recent visit to ENT says that his hearing is good.Is my kid's vocabulary normal or is he slow.
When i see some parents who say that there kid by this time talked a lot makes me feel bad for my son. Pls share ur views.
Thank U

Dear Geetha, I understand what u might be undergoing. My son started talking only after he was 3 years old. We were bit worried. we had admitted our son in play group. Please don't panic. There is a saying that boys are late starters. Even though my son started talking his vocabulary is better than any child of his age. We were quite tensed as we were worried about the school interviews.Only problem we faced was that we started him talking english. As school admissions were nearing we gave more importance to english rather than our mother tongue tamil.Touch wood, he got selected in all the school interviews he attended.
Geetha, only care u have to take is that u talk to him in slow pace, show him big illustrated picture story books. Please do not compare him with other kids of his age as it will affect the child mentally. Be cool, relaxed and beleive me your son will start talking soon.

RE:Shyness right or wrong?
According to me you should take your child to a counselor and ask her what is the exact problem as this is not common and you should get into it as soon as possible and understand the real reason behind the same, please do not ignore this its a request.... - Anaida [View Message]
RE:Shyness right or wrong?
Hello dear this is really nothing to worry as its very common and you should not take this matter as a big concern as kids at this age are normally shy and they do not like meeting new people infact they want only their friends and all with them.... - Anita [View Message]
