Hello Frnds
My daughter is 10.5 months old and she weighs 17 lbs ,5 oz.My doc said she' s under-weight and she actually looks very weak and lean.
Here' s what i feed her :
She wakes up 8.30 or 9 in the morning.
9 AM - Khicdi with vegi' s with 1 tbsp desi-ghee. 11 AM - Banana shake
1 PM - Vegi+Yogurt
3 PM - Formula/custard/raagi
5 PM - Fruits + Cheese slice
7 PM - Kihichdi with 1 tbsp desi ghee
9 PM - Formula/Biscuits
11 PM - Formula
2 AM [night time ] - Formula

Everytime i give her formula - she drinks it very less say - 3 or 4 oz.

Please Suggest me what i' m doing wrong. How can i make her drink more milk.

Niti

Hi Niti,

There might be some old posts of Hetal that might give you more idea. Others might be able to help you on that score.

But I can tell you what works for me.

I give longer gaps between food and formula. I also give gripe water just before she has her morning and evening feed. Plus when she drinks formula, she needs to be burped every 2-3 oz. I also use a pacifier to make her drink her milk. E.g. if she stops drinking milk after 2-3 oz, I don' t force her..I immediately put her to my shoulder and burp her and walk around with her..after 3-4 min, I put her down, put the pacifier in her mouth, and once she gets used to the sucking motion, quickly take it out and insert the bottle. If she doesn' t take the bottle, I again put her to my shoulder and try burping her...once the burp comes, she is more amenable to drinking more milk.

6:30-7am: When she stirs in the morning around 6:30 am-7 am, I quickly change her diaper, give her the gripe water and feed her formula - she takes in about 7-8 oz (giving the burps and all). Since she' s still a bit sleepy, its easier to feed her the formula.

9-9:30: I wait for 2 hrs minimum to give her some breakfast. So she has something to eat around 9-9:30. She' s a bit hungry by then.

11:30 -12 noon: Formula (5-7 oz).

2 pm - Lunch

4:30-5 pm: Formula (6-7 oz)

6 - 6:30pm: Dinner

8 pm: Formula (7-8 oz)

This is working for me. Hope this helps you.
